This special showcase sees five Scottish animations brought to life with new scores by five emerging film composers. Recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the young composers have created these works under the guidance of award-winning composers including Patrick Doyle as part of the RSNO Film Composers Lab.

Spectators – new score by Mark Hendry, animated by Ross Hogg
Birdwatching – new score by Wai-Yi Wong, animated by Holly Summerson
Vincent Black Lightning – new score by Michael Lewis, animated by Cat Bruce
Crow Moon – new score by David Ford, animated by Selina Wagner
RSNO Film Composers Lab is a professional development scheme for early-career composers with an interest in composition for screen. The programme offers five emerging UK-based composers an invaluable and unique opportunity to expand their skills in film composition by rescoring an existing short film while working directly with a professional orchestra, experienced film composers and screen industry professionals, creating a brand-new composition for full symphony orchestra.
