Sir Alexander Gibson Memorial Conducting Fellow Eden Devaney
Eden Devaney is currently reading Vocal Studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) with Iain Paton. During his time, he has been the recipient of the Molly Robb and Agnes Miller Prizes and has appeared as a soloist with the RCS Chamber Choir on BBC Scotland. On the concert platform, Eden has sung roles such as: Evangelist in St John’s Passion, and the tenor soloist in Bach’s B Minor Mass and Mozart’s Requiem. On the operatic stage, he has recently finished working as a professional chorister on Scottish Opera’s Oedipus Rex. As well as this, Eden is an experienced choral singer – some of his choral highlights include working with the Cumnock Tryst, Edinburgh Festival Chorus and the Choir of Kings College, London.
Eden is also a keen choral conductor. He started his conducting journey in 2021 where he took the Xaverian College Chamber Choir at the age of 18 – there he fell in love with working with choirs. Eden is currently the musical director of the Awen Ensemble (a chamber choir of RCS singers) and holds the position of Assistant Conductor for Ayr Choral Union. He is delighted to be the Sir Alexander Gibson Fellow for the RSNO Chorus’ 2024:25 Season.
