ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Martin Yates (Conductor)
Martin Yates has over two decades built a career with a broad range of repertoire and genre. He has conducted widely across Europe and has developed relationships with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, the Finnish Ballet and the Royal Swedish Ballet. Yates is a regular conductor of RSNO recordings.
Warren Mok (Tenor)
A Hong Kong Chinese tenor with a distinguished international career since his European debut in 1987 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Mok has been making frequent guest appearances throughout the world. Warren Mok is currently the artistic director of the Macau International Music Festival and founder and artistic director of Opera Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music.
Wei Song (Tenor)
With a voice of perfect timbre, China's most celebrated opera tenor, Wei Song is also known as "China's Pavarotti". He is vice president of the Shanghai Opera House and has performed in numerous memorable roles including Cavaradossi in Tosca, Zhang Sheng in West Chamber, Liangxing in Yue Fei, Turridu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Calaf in Turandot, Alfredo in La Traviata.
Dai Yuqiang (Tenor)
Dai Yuqiang is a prestigious and famous tenor in China. His voice led Luciano Pavarotti to bring him to his home in Pesaro, Italy, as his first and only Chinese student. Tibor Rudas, the man who founded the Three Tenors, highly appreciated his voice. Dai Yuqiang made his Covent Garden debut in Puccini’s Tosca. To coincide with that debut, EMI issued his first recital album, recorded in London in October of 2001.
