The RSNO is one of Scotland’s leading cultural institutions, an orchestra with a variety of work that is almost unparalleled amongst its British peers. Equally at home performing the core symphonic repertoire, live film soundtracks or gigging with Scottish rock/indie/pop bands, the Orchestra’s musicians are all true professionals of the highest calibre, with many of our section principals also being award-winning soloists in their own right.
Working with Scotland’s National Orchestra gives you access to not only world-class musicians – from small chamber ensembles to full symphony orchestra – but also the world-class rehearsal and recording facilities of the RSNO Centre.
Opened in 2015, the RSNO is a purpose-built new home right in the centre of Glasgow, Scotland’s UNESCO City of Music. At the heart of the building is Glasgow’s newest performance space: an acoustically adjustable, 600-seat auditorium that provides world-class rehearsal alongside full in-house recording facilities for the Orchestra.
The RSNO has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its recordings, receiving two Diapason d’Or de l’année awards for Symphonic Music (Denève/Roussel 2007; Denève/Debussy 2012) and eight GRAMMY Awards nominations in recent years.
