Our Choruses About Us
RSNO Chorus
Founded in 1843 to give Scotland’s first full performance of Handel’s Messiah, the RSNO Chorus has a rich history behind its current reputation as one of the most successful choruses in the UK. The RSNO Chorus has approx 120 members and performs in around six different programmes in up to twenty concerts across Scotland with the RSNO each year. The RSNO Chorus is directed by Stephen Doughty.
RSNO Youth Chorus
Founded in 1978 by Jean Kidd, the RSNO Youth Chorus (formerly Junior Chorus) is one of the leading children and youth choirs in the UK, with over 400 members aged seven to eighteen. It has built up a considerable reputation singing under some of the world’s most distinguished conductors and appearing on radio and television. The RSNO Youth Chorus is directed by Patrick Barrett.
RSNO Community Choirs
The RSNO Community Choirs include Chorus Academies in Glasgow and Dundee, Buggy Choir for new parents and carers, and the Workplace Choir for city-centre workers to enjoy singing during their lunchbreak. These choirs encourage singers who would like to build their confidence in all aspects of singing, including choral techniques, singing techniques and musicianship, alongside promoting singing for health and wellbeing.
