RSNO Season update: Derrick Morgan replaces Stephanie Childress Posted Tue 21 May 2024
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) is grateful to Derrick Morgan for stepping in to replace Stephanie Childress who is unable to join the Orchestra for this week’s concerts in Airdrie and Dundee due to illness.
The concert programmes remain unchanged as Morgan, the RSNO’s Assistant Conductor, firstly joins the Orchestra for matinee performances of Dvořák and Caroline Shaw with presenter Gillian Moore. He will also conduct an extended evening programme in Dundee which additionally includes participants from Sistema Scotland’s Big Noise Douglas centre and acclaimed violinist and RSNO Leader, Maya Iwabuchi, who performs Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending.
Morgan holds the position of Assistant Conductor of the RSNO, where he works closely with Music Director Thomas Søndergård and is supported by the Solti Foundation. He is also Assistant Conductor of the London-based Orpheus Sinfonia as part of their Orchestral Foundation Programme and was the Assistant Artistic Director of the Royal Philharmonic Society Award-nominated Nevis Ensemble alongside Holly Mathieson and John Hargreaves.
Tickets for the concerts are on sale and available from the RSNO What’s On.
