The Royal Scottish National Orchestra is honoured to announce His Majesty The King as Patron. His Majesty will take forward the patronage awarded by The late Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. This follows a review of Royal Patronages conducted by the Royal Household and marks the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation.
Since the official founding of the Scottish Orchestra in 1891, the Orchestra has played a crucial role in shaping the musical life of the nation. The Royal Scottish National Orchestra welcomes the patronage of King Charles III, a lifelong supporter of arts and culture, particularly at this challenging time for the sector.
RSNO Chair Dame Susan Bruce DBE said: “We are very privileged to have the support of His Majesty The King as Patron of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. For forty-five years previously, we were proud to name Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as our Patron since her acceptance in 1977. As Scotland’s National Orchestra, we aim to reach every Scottish citizen with our performances and engagement programmes, both on and off the musical platform, and we are thankful for His Majesty’s recognition of the importance of our work. We were honoured to perform for him during his tenure as HRH The Prince of Wales in Braemar in 2022 and look forward to welcoming him back to Scotland.”
